A member of a student residence team handing a hot, freshly plated dish to a resident at their door

Hot Food to Their Room. No Kitchen. No Chef.

Chef-developed. Finished on site. Delivered to the door.

Residents in premium accommodation expect to eat well without leaving the building — and every order that goes to a delivery app is revenue leaving with it. In-room dining, run by the team you already have.

The Tuesday Night Problem

Residents order in.The question is who's cooking.

Ask a student in a premium residence what they eat on a Tuesday in November, with a deadline at midnight, and the answer is a delivery app. That revenue leaves the building, the wait is forty-five minutes, and the quality is whatever arrived on a moped.

The obvious fix is a kitchen and a chef. It is also the most expensive fix available. A commercial kitchen consumes lettable space, demands extraction and drainage, and commits you to a permanent payroll of skilled staff in the tightest labour market British hospitality has seen. Demand in a residence is peaky by nature — quiet in August, relentless in exam season. A fixed cost base under peaky demand is a structural loss.

So we separate the skill from the site. The cooking happens once, in our production kitchen. What happens in your building is finishing — regenerated and plated by staff already on shift, then taken to the door.

Built For Buildings Without Kitchens

Everything the offer needs.None of the infrastructure.

No commercial kitchen

No raw preparation happens on site, so there's no extraction, no raw-prep area, no fit-out. An upright freezer and a smart oven are the whole footprint.

Your existing team

Front-of-house, concierge or night staff can run it. They scan the barcode on the label and the oven sets itself. No culinary training, no rota dependency, no cover crisis when one person leaves.

Open when they're hungry

Late evenings, exam weeks, Sunday nights. The service doesn't close because a kitchen shift ended — which is exactly when the order goes to an app instead.

Revenue that stays in

Every meal ordered in the building is margin retained, not commission paid to a third-party platform.

One Barcode, No Decisions

Every dish carries its own instructions.Nobody sets a thing.

Every product leaves our kitchen with a barcode on its label. The station reads that barcode and loads the right programme into the oven itself — mode, temperature, time. Your team never chooses a setting, never keys in a time, and never has to remember which dish is which.

Scan

The barcode on the label. One beep and the oven has its programme for that exact product.

Place

Dish in, door shut, one press. No dial to turn, no timer to set, nothing to judge.

Serve

The station signals when it's ready. Plate it and take it to the door.

That is the entire skill requirement. It is why a concierge on a night shift can put out a meal to the standard a head chef signed off — and why the food doesn't change when the rota does.

No F&B Department Required

We write the menu and the operation. You run it.

Most residences that want to feed their students properly stop at the same wall: nobody in the building has ever run a food service. So we do that part. We build the menu around your residents and your price point, and we write the standard operating procedures that sit behind it — ordering, storage, stock rotation, reheating, allergen handling, delivery to the door, and what to do on the night something goes wrong.

They are written for a duty manager, not for a chef. That is the point: the expertise lives in the menu and the procedure, not in the person holding the tray.

What we bring

  • A menu developed for your building — what residents actually eat, what sells at ten at night, and the dietary spread you need.
  • Written SOPs for every step of the service, from the delivery arriving to the tray leaving.
  • Full allergen and nutritional information on every dish, on the label.
  • Training for your team, and a named contact who knows your account.
  • Menus that change with the seasons, without you having to plan them.

What you need

  • An upright freezer and a smart oven.
  • Whoever is already on shift.
  • No chef. No F&B manager. No kitchen. No prior experience of running food.
Proven In Hospitality

Trusted by 60+ UK hotels. Now in student residences.

The model isn't new — it's what a growing number of UK hotels already run. Nova Chef supplies more than sixty, including a five-star property near the Bank of England whose overnight room service runs without a night kitchen team. In-room dining in a student residence is the same operation, for a different resident.

Menus are developed by a Michelin-Guide restaurateur. Production is SALSA-accredited, in our own kitchen in North West London.

Questions

FAQs

Do we need a commercial kitchen?

No. No raw food is prepared on site, so there is no requirement for extraction, drainage or a raw-prep area. An upright freezer and a smart oven are all the equipment needed.

Do we need to employ a chef?

No. Dishes are prepared by professional chefs in our North West London kitchen and finished on site by your existing team, who scan the barcode on the label and let the oven set itself. Training takes about an hour.

We've never run a food service before — is that a problem?

No, and it is the situation most of our residences start from. We develop the menu for your building and write the standard operating procedures that sit behind it — ordering, storage, rotation, reheating, allergens and service — in the language of a duty manager rather than a chef. Your team is trained in about an hour and has a named contact from then on.

How do staff know how to cook each dish?

They don't need to. Every product carries a barcode on its label; the station reads it and loads that product's programme into the oven — mode, temperature and time. Staff scan, place the dish in and serve when it signals. There is no setting to choose and nothing to get wrong.

How does the food reach residents' rooms?

Your team regenerates and plates the order back of house and delivers it to the door — the same operation as hotel room service, without the kitchen or the chef behind it.

Can it run late at night and during exam periods?

Yes. Because the service does not depend on a kitchen shift, it can run whenever staff are on duty — which is when residences most often lose orders to delivery apps.

Is the food good enough for a premium residence?

Menus are developed by a Michelin-Guide restaurateur and cooked by professional chefs, captured at their peak and finished to order. Production is SALSA-accredited. The tasting answers this better than we can, and it's free.

What does it cost to set up?

The main item is an upright freezer; smart ovens are available to rent monthly. Pricing and minimum order values are confirmed on a call, once we know your building's size and expected demand.

How quickly can we launch?

Typically about two weeks from first conversation to serving.

Taste it first. That's all we ask.

No pitch decks required. We'll bring the food to your building, and you can decide with your mouth rather than a brochure.
